Blasskapelle

Our Blasskapelle is the last remaining Transylvanian Saxon brass band in the United States. Other Saxon bands are found in Canada and throughout Europe.
Being that most traditional Saxon music has been lost, or never written down, the Blasskapelle additionally incorporates an array of other Germanic music while still keeping to the Saxon garbs. (The ladies of the group also have the option of wearing a German style dress called a Dirndl.) The repertoire of the Blasskapelle is comprised of classic German polkas, waltzes, marches and tangos in which all vocals are sung in German. To increase the versatility of the venues in which the band performs, popular concert music and the newest "festmusik" (festival music) from Europe is also featured.
